The catch-out pond at Buck Creek Trout Farm is a wonderful place for family fun and group outings. Don’t worry about packing your bait and poles, Buck Creek has a selection to choose
from. Bring a cooler if you plan to have a fish fry! This is fun fishing for any age or skill level. No fishing license is required. Buck Creek will clean your trout for a small fee, or they have facilities available if you prefer to clean your own. There is a picnic area with a covered pavilion right beside the creek. Truly fun for all ages. Groups of 10 or more should call ahead for reservations.
Hike the Catawba Falls Trail, trekking through a mossy, shady forest valley to a beautiful series of waterfalls on the Catawba River. Rated as relatively moderated by Asheville Trails and about 2.7 miles round trip, its a great trail for you and your pup!
Discover the only accessible cavern in North Carolina, Linville Caverns. View stalactite and stalagmites, along with an underground stream where the fish are blind (it’s so dark, they couldn’t see anyway.) Guided tours are led throughout the year, with weekend-only tours in the winter months.
Tube down Catawba River with Catawba River Outdoors! Located at the upper end of Catawba River, they have a picnic area for lunch and a bathhouse to change into dry clothes after your adventure.
